01
Complex procedures from abroad
Searching for accommodation from another country often means navigating an unfamiliar administrative system, usually in a foreign language.
02
A search experience focused on listings
Current platforms provide access to housing listings, but very few encourage interactions between future roommates.
03
A mutual need for trust
Students are looking for a reassuring environment, while housing providers want an easier way to identify compatible and trustworthy profiles.
To better understand the difficulties faced by international students, we conducted a research phase combining user surveys, interviews, and analysis of existing housing platforms.
Resarch methods
Survey shared with students

01
Personas
To better understand the needs, expectations, and frustrations of the different users, we created several personas representing both international students and housing providers. These profiles helped guide the platform’s features and user flows throughout the design process.

02
User flows
The user flows helped structure the different navigation steps within the application, from finding accommodation to interacting with other users. This step helped us design a smoother, clearer, and more intuitive experience for both international students and housing providers.

03
Visual identity
The visual identity and logo were designed to create a modern, friendly, and recognizable universe for Kolok. The orange color palette and minimalist branding help reinforce the platform’s accessibility, warmth, and human-centered approach.

04
Wireframes
The wireframes helped define the structure of the application and organize the different features before designing the final interfaces. This step allowed us to explore several user flows and create a clearer and more intuitive mobile experience.

05
Final interfaces
The final interfaces were designed by applying the project’s visual identity through a clear, modern, and intuitive UI. The overall experience was created to make navigation, housing search, and user interactions smoother and more enjoyable.

Main Features
Kolok includes a messaging system between students, roommates, and housing providers, allowing them to ask questions, organize visits, and connect before moving into the accommodation.
Housing providers can create listings, upload photos, add accommodation details, and manage conversations with interested users directly within the platform.
